Letter Requesting 60-Day Comment Period on Proposed Rule Expanding Collection of Biometrics
September 15, 2020
The American Immigration Council joined coalition partners in calling on the Department of Homeland Security to extend the 30-day comment period to 60-days relating to a proposed rule that would dramatically expand the personal information that it collects in support of immigration petitions and applications. This new rule will increase the total number of people who are required to submit biometric data from 3.9 million currently to 6.07 million—an increase of more than 60%.
