Statement for the House Judiciary Committee on "The Unconstitutionality of Obama's Executive Actions on Immigration"
The American Immigration Council submitted a written statement to the House Committee on the Judiciary for a February 25, 2015 hearing on "The Unconstitutionality of Obama's Executive Actions on Immigrants." The statement is comprised of three major parts that analyze the beneficial effects of these programs will have on society as a whole. Part one shares our analysis and research regarding the legal and historical authority for President Obama's deferred action programs: Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and Deferred Action for Parental Accountability (DAPA) which provide temporary relief for those affected by our broken immigration system. Part two of the statement details the significant economic benefits of the programs. Finally, part three of the statement summarizes some of the significant social benefits of the action.
