Statement for the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee on "Deferred Action on Immigration: Implications and Unanswered Questions"

The American Immigration Council submitted a written statement to the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee for a Februrary 2, 2014 hearing on "Deferred Action on Immigration: Implications and Unasnwered Questions." The statement shares our analysis and research regarding the economic and other benefits of the deferred action programs, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and Deferred Action for Parental Accountability (DAPA). The statement includes our recent report, Only the Beginning: The Economic Potential of Executive Action on Immigration, which details the economic benefits of the deferred action programs. The statement also includes an amicus brief submitted by the American Immigration Council and other organizations in pending litigation against the executive action, and also highlights personal stories of those impacted individuals who are benefitting from these programs.
